Upon the surfacing of series of rumors regarding the end of production of the Nintendo console Wii U. Kotaku released a report confirming the company’s decision to end production of the Wii U console, as they came across the information on Nintendo’s official Japanese website. Upon translation, the text read that “Production is scheduled to end soon.”
According to Tom Philips from Eurogamer, Nintendo’s plan to end production was certain, as he referenced different sources confirming the information:
“At the last official count, as of 30th September, Nintendo had shipped 13.36m Wii U consoles. The console’s final tally will likely now be only slightly more. Nintendo’s Japanese production line will shut down for the last time this week after the final deadline for orders passed yesterday. Only a small number of further orders were placed.”
This recent development might be due to the announcement of the Nintendo Switch and rumors that a Switch Pro was currently being developed.
